Isabelle Kirkbride

Isabelle is currently studying a Bachelor of Environmental Science (Honours) at UOW. She has a particular interest in marine megafauna and behavioural ecology, conservation genetics and genomics, as well as wildlife conservation in regard to climate change and anthropogenic threats. Since 2021, Isabelle has been a member with the Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans in Australia (ORRCA), and completed rescue training in 2023. She has gained valuable marine rescue experience responding to marine incidents, sometimes as part of a multi agency response, including whale strandings, dolphin and seal monitoring, and drone entanglement surveillance. She has also taken part in education of the public and data collection for the East coast whale migration research team. As part of the MAVE lab since 2025, she is supporting research on isotopic data in cetaceans, as well as taking part in various other cetacean projects.
