Marine Vertebrate Ecology Lab

Mar completed an MSc in Marine Sciences at Sorbonne University (Paris, France) in 2025. She has a particular interest in cetacean ecology, bioacoustics, morphometrics, and the impacts of anthropogenic pressures on marine mammal behaviour and welfare. For her Master's thesis at Edith Cowan University (Western Australia), she assessed the potential effects of underwater construction noise on the hearing sensitivity of Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins.

Since 2024, Mar has contributed to marine mammal research projects involving photo-identification, morphometric analysis, passive acoustic monitoring, and long-term cetacean monitoring. She is currently working on a long-term cetacean monitoring and canyon research project in South Africa, while also contributing to Mediterranean cetacean photo-identification catalogues through NGO-led conservation research. In addition, she supports international collaborative projects focused on cetacean morphometrics and conservation.

As a member of the MAVE Lab since 2026, Mar has been supporting research on isotopic data in cetaceans through the IsoCet Project.
